Traditional or Qazakh Brick and Its Applications
Traditional or Qazakh bricks are handmade. In ancient Iran, it was common to use handmade mud bricks for construction. These bricks were dried under direct sunlight, and as science and technology advanced, these sun-dried bricks were fired in kilns to become more durable and resistant to environmental factors, allowing them to withstand greater pressure. Many structures in Iran, some over a thousand years old, were built using handmade Qazakh and traditional bricks, which are known for their exceptional strength and durability. The most common type of handmade traditional brick is the Qazakh brick, which is solid and rectangular in shape. The standard size for Qazakh bricks is 5.5 × 20 cm, with varying thicknesses of 10 cm, 5.5 cm, and 3.5 cm. Another variation is the Khataei brick, which is square-shaped with dimensions of 20 × 20 cm and a thickness of 4.5 cm.These traditional bricks are prized for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and versatility in both historical restorations and modern architectural designs.

raditional Qazakh Brick Production
Traditional bricks are produced manually using traditional methods. The process begins with preparing the required soil, which is typically sieved clay. The clay is then mixed with water to create mud, which is placed into wooden molds. Once the molded bricks (known as Qazakh bricks) are dried, they are fired in a kiln. The duration of the firing process in the kiln determines the final color of the brick, giving each batch its unique appearance. This traditional method of production ensures that Qazakh bricks retain their natural texture, durability, and aesthetic appeal, making them a popular choice for both historical restorations and modern architectural projects.

The History of Qazakh Brick
Qazakh brick is one of the oldest types of traditional bricks in Iran. During the arrival of the Qazakh forces, they built their barracks using a specific type of brick with dimensions of 5×10×20 cm. Over time, these bricks became known as “Qazakh bricks.” Due to their historical significance, they are categorized as traditional bricks.Among the distinguishing features of Qazakh bricks from the Bazarmemar market are their resistance to efflorescence, absence of air pockets, color consistency, and their ability to withstand freezing temperatures and water exposure. In line with reviving traditional Iranian culture, Pars Brick Façade Company has introduced a variety of Qazakh bricks and other traditional façade bricks to the market. These bricks are used for modern façades as well as the restoration and renovation of old, traditional structures.Another account traces the history of these bricks back to the Sasanian era, during which they were used in monumental constructions, such as:
