Calculating the Number of Bricks in Construction
In general, the method for calculating the number of bricks required for wall construction, regardless of the brick size, can be determined using the formulas provided below:
How Are Brick Calculations Done?
If you’re unsure, read this guide to learn the process.

Formula 1:
- Brick Area with Mortar
Brick Length × (Brick Height + 1.5) = Brick and Mortar Area
- Number of Bricks per Square Meter
(Brick and Mortar Area) / (10,000) = Number of Bricks per Square Meter
- Total Number of Bricks
Total Wall Length × Wall Height × Number of Bricks per Square Meter = Total Number of Bricks or Blocks

Formula 2:
- Wall Volume
Wall Thickness × Wall Height × Wall Length = Wall Volume
- Brick Volume
Wall Volume × 0.8 = Brick Volume
- Number of Bricks
(Volume of One Brick or Block) / (Brick Volume) = Total Number of Bricks or Blocks

Note:
These formulas and calculations are approximate and can be used to estimate the number of various types of bricks, including clay bricks, hollow blocks, ceiling and wall blocks, decorative bricks, and others like Leca or Lofoten bricks.
